"Information from 1850, 1855, 1865 Van Buren Census. Records in the possession of Fred A Molby, Baldwin, Kansas.
"In a letter dated Aug. 31, 1953, he says--'John Molby's son, Frank H. Molby of Ashgrove Farm, Greenleaf, Kansas, sent me a list in which he gave his father John's birth as Feb. 19, 1817."
"In a Bible which John's widow had procured several years after John's death, all nicely written, she had--
"John Molby was born April 14, 1817. John Molby died February 6, 1859, Onondaga Co., N.Y., age 41-9-22." (probably Van Buren Twp.) (In the copy sent me it is: "John Molby was born April 1, 1817).
It is thought that John died on his farm and is buried in the old cemetery on the Molby-Rouse farm, now leveled. Most of the bodies were removed to nearby cemeteries. After his death his family re- mained in this section for a number of years, but finally all went west, the last one in 1884. (Ref. Harvey Walker).
(Note. One of Irvin John Molby's children was born in New York in 1887; and the next child was born in Kansas, 1889).
