V.386. William Molby, b. July 4, 1800 (Jonathan 4, Sam.3, Sam.2, Wm.1). He married in 1823, Losina Clark (b. 1803) at Baldwinsville, N.Y. There is a Van Buren Township, Onondago Co., N.Y. deed:
"Lot 12. March 8, 1825 William Molby and wife Luoisa) of Camillus Town to Isaac Jacob Molby and wife Saery ) Wilson of Camillus Town Chester Molby and wife Sally ) for $325. Isaac Molby )
It is not evident to me why William, who was younger brother of Jacob and Chester, should head this list. Is it possible their father, Jonathan, left a larger share of this lot to William? Cer- tainly it seems unusual. (Hist. of Van Buren) "William Malby a tax payer in 1825."

As nearly as can be ascertained, William Maltby or Molby, with his brother Isaac, moved to Michigan in 1836. The family of Will- iam were mostly of Oakland County.

The Hist. of Oakland Co. 1817-1877, compiled by Thaddeus D. Seeley, The Lewis Pub. Co., Chicago and New York, 1912, contains the statement: "In 1836, there was a small class in the vicinity of Clarkston comprised of Azra Crosby and wife, John Merrill and wife and William Malby and wife."
(F.A.M. I believe this was a class called "Sashabaw Class," name for an Indian chief.)
