CHA. Jonathan MALTBIE, b. June 29, 1720 (Jonathan 2, Wm. 1). He m. Feb. 27, 1743/4, Abigail HOLMES, "at evening" by his honored father, one of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace." At this time Abigail Holmes is called of "Greenwich."
Jonathan Maltbie died at Stamford, Conn., Aug. 13, 1745. His widow was killed by lightning, at Stamford, Aug. 9, 1747. Family tradition is that she stepped out on the porch to see if the storm was over as she was going out "to Tea," when the lightning was attracted by the buckles on her shoes, which killed her.
