"A.E. Maltby, for twenty six years principal of Slippery Rock State Normal School, died at his home in Grove City on May 27, 1924, aged seventy-four years.

Mr. Maltby received his preliminary education in the public schools of Fayetteville, New York. He was graduated from Cornell University in 1876. He received the honorary degree Ph.D. from St. Laurence University of New York and the L.L.D. degree from Grove City College.

From the time of his graduation from college Dr. Maltby was engaged in educational activities with the exception of a period in 1878 when
