Resided, Springfield, Mass.

Practiced in Brooklyn, N.Y., Cleveland, O., Bridgeport, Ct., and Springfield, Mass.

VII.1216. Lavinia Hurd, b. 1834, Southington, O. (Harmon Hurd 6, Seth Hurd 5, Esther 4, John 3, John 2, Wm.1). Mar. at Southington, about 1850-1, Martin Smith. She d. 1867 at Southington. He resided at Braceville, Phalanx, Warren and Southington; b. about 1832 at Brace- ville; d. July 28, 1889, Greenville. He was son of George Smith and Catherine, wid. of Peter Kerchuer.
(Note. The name "Kerchuer" is interesting as the will of William Kerchuer of Orston, Nottinghamshire, dated 18 Jan. 1545, leaves to John Mawlbie a black cow and to Robert Maltebi a cow. He mentions brothers Richard and Hugh, his father William, wife Elizabeth and sister Ellen. This name is also spelled Kerchervall in old records).
