Chester Molby was a farmer. He came as a boy or young man with his father from the East. On March 8, 1813, he bought 139 acres of land on lot 11 in the town of Camillus, now Van Buren, from William I. Vraden burgh for $750. He married soon after and raised a family but met an untimely death in the spring of 1837 by being thrown from his wagon when his team ran away. He was buried on his farm along with other members of the Maltby-Molby family. Later on many of the bodies were removed to nearby cemeteries, but Chester's body had so disintegrated that there was nothing left to remove so his stone was buried below plow depth and the ground leveled.
Chester's farm was on the East Dead Creek road, on the east side of the road, and only a few miles out of Baldwinsville, N.Y. After his death the farm was bought by Harrison Rouse who had married one of Ches ter's daughters and the farm became known for many years as the Harrison Rouse place.
