Compiler's Note. Although I lived in Ithaca, N.Y., for seven years and in that time made magnetic observations in most of the upstate counties, my time was so occupied that it was not feasible to seek out many of the descendants of Jacob Maltby to obtain historic or biographic data from them. It results, therefore, that most of the information had to be obtained when and where it could be found in the very recent years. I am most happy to give credit to Miss Lesley E. Voorhees for making a thorough search for data pertaining to this branch of Jonathan's family.
