VIII.3244. Julius Smith, b. Sept. 23, 1888 (Susan B.7, Douglas F.6, Julius 5, Benj.4, Benj.3, Dan.2, Wm.1). Mar. Pauline Wilcox of Meridan, Conn., descended from the Root family. She is a member of the New Haven, Conn., Colonial Dames. Res. 47 Buckingham St., Waterbury, Conn. Mrs. Smith and her daughter Susan called on us in North Vancouver about 1936. Mr. Smith's photograph resembled Mr. Harold Maltby, of the Hoveringham, Notts, Maltby family.

VIII.3248. Benjamin Scott Stevens, b. Feb. 3, 1879, Northford, Conn. (Harriet A.7, Epaphras C.6, Julius 5, Benj.4, Benj.3, Dan.2, Wm.1). Mar. June 20, 1906, Elinor Clarissa Jacobs, at Wallingford. He d. at Wallingford, Ct., Jan. 4, 1954, bur. at Northford. Res. 557 Woodward Avenue, New Haven, Ct. (1955 letter returned).

Stevens
The name of Stevens has become, covering a long period of time, so interwoven with the history of "International Silver" that one is scarcely complete without the other.
A full account of this family and their marvelous achievements has been amply portrayed in Earl Chapin May's book "A Century of Silver." Here one may find photographs of Douglas Fowler Maltby, Chapman Maltby 6 and his daughter, Harriet (Maltby) Stevens 7, and Chapman's son, Wilburt S. Maltby. Also Fred Stevens 8, Fred Stevens 9, Evarts Chapman Stevens 8, with photographs of his sons, Evarts Chapman, Jr. and John Bradford 9; also Maltby Stevens 8, younger brother of Fred and Evarts Stevens.

Child: IX.4390. Frederick Maltby Stevens, Jr., b. Oct. 13, 1910, Meriden, Conn.
Mr. Stevens first connection with the silver industry began during his holidays while still a student at the High School. It was in 1904 that he became affiliated with "International Silver." In 1919 he be- came assistant superintendent at the Wallingford Factory, and in 1929 he was manager of Factory E. in Meriden. By 1939 Mr. Stevens was one of the Directors of the Company.
