IX.4100. James Reed, III(?), b. Aug. 3, 1910.
IX.4101. Edward Maltby Reed, b. Oct. 24, 1918; d. Aug. 10, 1922.

"When my daughter was staying at Martinez, Cal. about 1934/5, Mr. Reed was one of the Head Construction Engineers on the new San Francisco bridge. Mrs. Reed entertained my daughter at her club and at her apart- ment--"one of the loveliest ladies I ever met" was her comment.

In 1941 Mr. Reed was made manager of Cramp's Shipbuilding Company of Philadelphia, Pa. and Mr. and Mrs. Reed went there to reside. They had been there but a short time when, quite suddenly, Mr. Reed died on July 23, 1941. He had never had a sick day in his life or felt better." Mrs. Reed closed their large house and returned to San Francisco (2140 Pacific Avenue) and resided with her son, Lieut. James Reed, Naval Reserve, "ordered there for duty."

VIII.2772. Edward Dickson Maltby, b. Nov. 24, 1892 (Geo.E.7, Geo.W.6, Wm.5, Wm.4, Jos.3, Dan.2, Wm.1). He married in the summer of 1939 and resided at 309 South Peck Drive, Beverly Hills, California.

VIII.2773. William Henry Maltby, b. Dec. 16, 1862 (Wm.H.7, Wm.6, Stephen 5, Wm.4, Jos.3, Dan.2, Wm.1). Mar. Sarah Florella Shotwell, of Elba, N.Y., dau. of David B. and Adeliza J. (Wilder) Shotwell, who was dau. of John Wilder of Elba, N.Y. Said to have had 5 children, probably two died.

Sept. 21, 1878. He was a member of the M. A. Res. (1928) 46 High Street, Glen Ridge, New Jersey. Anna Elizabeth was dau. of Henry Clay Reeder. Maurice Powell d. June 28, 1936, Glen Ridge, New Jersey.

VIII.2775. Phillips Bayard Powell, b. Mon. May 13, 1878, Clinton, N.Y. (Lucy 7, Norman 6, John 5, Wm.4, Jos.3, Dan.2, Wm.1). Mar. Nov. 24, 1921, Florence Bessie Yale at Deansboro, N.Y. No children. Member of Maltby Assoc. Think he resides at College Hill, Clinton, N.Y.

VIII.2776. Herbert Spencer Powell, b. Sun. Nov. 21, 1882, Clinton, N.Y. (Lucy 7, Norman 6, John 5, Wm.4, Jos.3, Dan.2, Wm.1). Mar. Sept. 17, Frances Mabel Hatfield in Oneida, N.Y. He was a member of M.A. He d. Nov. 14, 1954, Utica, N.Y. No children. Widow res. 17 Faxton St., Utica, N.Y. Note. The Powells descend from William Cox, who was one of the patriots who "steeped the tea into the waves of the Atlantic," at the famous "Boston Tea Party."
