II.6. Elizabeth Maltby, b. April 30, 1676, Branford, Conn. (William 1). Mar. March 14, 1697-8, Abraham, son of William Hoadley. In 1693, "Elizabeth Maltbie joined the Church at Branford." She d. Dec. 14, 1747 and he died July 14, 1748 "advanced in years," at Branford. Abraham Hoadly was probably a son by a first wife of William Hoadley. He is called "Capt. William Hoadle, or Hoadley, of 1630-1709. Saybrook, Conn., 1663. In 1667 to Branford, where he died. 1sth wife unknown. Mar. (2) in 1686, Mrs. Mary (Bullard) Farrington, dau. of William Bullard of Charles- town, Mass; and widow of John Farrington of Dedham, Mass. She d. 1703, and he mar. (3) Mrs. Ruth (Bowers) Frisbie, who died 1736. He bought the home lot of Rev. Abraham Pierson, of Branford, when the latter removed to Newark, New Jersey. "This lot is where the Totoket House now stands." He was a merchant and his store was next to his dwelling. In 1669 he was Deputy from Branford to General Assembly; in 1686, a patentee of that town. Selectman, 1688; Grand Juror, 1688; etc., etc. Estate # 1116.

William Hoadley had eight children, names of but seven known. Children by 1st wife were: William; Samuel, b. ca. 1666; John; Mary; Elizabeth, bpt. 1668; Hannah, bpt. 1670; Abraham.

(?Was Abraham named for Rev. Abraham Pierson).

Note. "Rachel" does not appear to be a name in the Hoadley family, and for this reason I have figured that Elizabeth Maltby named her first child Rachel for her own mother, Rachel, 1st wife of William Maltby.

Elizabeth (Maltby) Hoadley, is buried at Branford. Her stone is not far from that of her father, William Maltby.

II.7. Daniel Maltby, b. May 19, 1679, Branford. (William 1).

"In 1700, Daniel Maltbie joined the Church at Branford." Esther Moss, who was to become his wife, joined the church at the same time. They were married Oct. 27, 1702. (Branford Record). She was the daughter of John Moss (or Morse) and Mary Lothrop.

John Moss was a son of John Moss, New Haven Planters Association, June 4, 1639. Born in England, 1604. Member of 1st General Court, 1639 and 1648, 1649 and 1664. Corporal, Aug. 6, 1642; May, 1678, Commissioner. He was one of the first settlers of Wallingford, and died in 1707, aged 103 years, according to records.

Mary Lothrop was dau. of Samuel Lothrop of New London, and wife Elizabeth Scudder. Samuel was a son of Rev. John Lothrop who was born at Elton, East Riding of Yorkshire, England, in 1584. He was bred at
