Maltby Genealogy

American Lineage

VIII.2484. Jay Hayes Maltby, b. July 30, 1868, Adams Centre, N.Y., (Dexter J.7, Calvin 6, Jos.5, Jos.4, Jos.3, Dan.2, Wm.1). Although un- able to state definitely who was his grandfather, it certainly would appear that he came from some one of the Maltby family of Adams Centre. It is difficult to believe he would have done so much for the Maltby Association had he not known he had Maltby blood. In 1908 he published the Association's "Booklet N.1." In 1910 he published the Secretary's Fourth Annual Report. In 1909 Mr. Maltby published own large "Booklet Two." As I recall it, the first two were at his own expense. Booklet No. Two, 150 pages, 30 illustrations, were sold to members at fifty cents a copy to assist in defraying costs. (Press of Jay H. Maltby, Forman, North Dakota). Mr. Maltby's photograph is in this booklet. Mr. Maltby was editor of a Forman, N. Dakota, newspaper.

The compiler believes that Dexter J. Maltby (father of Jay Hayes Maltby) was a son of Anna (7) Maltby, and therefore a grandson of Cal- vin (6) Maltby, who adopted him. He was of Maltby blood. If so, Dexter J. was of the 8th generation and Jay Hayes of the 9th generation.
