VII.2349. Alfred Maltbie Lynes, b. Nov. 6, 1859 (Stephen C. Lynes 6, Hannah 5, Jonathan 4, Jonathan 3, Jonathan 2, Wm.1). Mar. Oct. 23, 1890, Rebecca Gorham Wakefield of Rhode Island. For many years he was engaged in newspaper and literary work. Musician and composer. Member of Maltby Association for many years. Res. 1628 Garden St., Santa Barbara, California. Furnished many records and was an old and dear friend of the compiler and her daughter.

We first met Mr. and Mrs. Lynes in Vancouver, B.C. It was during World War I, where they entertained us at luncheon at the Hotel Van- couver. On a later visit to the city, they were guests at dinner at my mother's residence, 910 The Boulevard, North Vancouver. Mr. Lynes took a great interest in my daughter, whom he believed had much liter- ary ability.

During the winter Mary Maltby Victory and her sister, Mrs. Thorn- ton, spent at Santa Barbara, Mr. Lynes was a frequent visitor at their home.

VII.2352. Anne Porter Lynes, b. May 19, 1874 (Stephen C. Lynes 6, Hannah 5, Jonathan 4, Jonathan 3, Jonathan 2, Wm.1). Mar. Oct. 15, 1896, Charles Merritt Field of Brooklyn, N.Y., who d. Sept. 26, 1916. She mar. (2) Dr. Thomas Mortimer Lloyd, M.D., of Brooklyn, on Oct. 2, 1917. She was an author of considerable note, who, under the name Anne Porter Lynes Field, contributed poetry and articles to various prominent magazines. Her book, "Canada Blackie," went through several editions. Res. 129 Pierpont Street, Brooklyn, N.Y.

VII.2354. Caroline Lydia Silliman, b. June 22, 1834 (Isaac J. Silli- man 6, Lydia Jarvis 5, Abigail Squire 4, Abigail 3, Jonathan 2, Wm.1). Mar. May 17, 1855, Thomas Carroll Hammond, of Rockville, Ind.; b. Feb. 20, 1832, Greencastle, Ind. She d. Aug. 8, 1901. He d. Nov. 1, 1915, Santa Monica, California. He was a son of John and Elizabeth Ann (Makan) Hammond. Buried at Greencastle, Indiana.
