Oct. 16, 1840 (Noah 6, Noah 5, Noah 4, Jos.3, Dan.2, Wm.1). Mar. Dec. 27, 1862, Clementia Irene Baker, at Tomah, Wis. She b. May 27, 1846, at Fort Ann, N.Y., dau. of Enoch and Rachel (Thompson) Baker. He served three years with General Sherman in the Civil War. He was Postmaster at Oakdale, Wis. He d. Feb. 9, 1840. Obituary. (The Gazette, Stevens Point, Wisconsin) A Soldier's Record. Interesting account of Army Service During Civil War by the late A. N. Maltby. A.N.Maltby, who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. N. Welsby, last Wednesday afternoon, was a Civil War veteran and took part in Sherman's "March to the Sea," and the Grand Review at Washing- ton. Among the possessions he left was a brief account of his army record, which is published below and will undoubtedly prove interest- ing to Gazette readers. "I enlisted Aug. 7, 1862, at Tomah, Wis. The company was quar- tered in Sparta and joined the regiment at LaCrosse. Was mustered into United States service September 14, 1862, with Co. D, 25th Regt. Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry. The regiment was ordered to Minnesota on October 1, and D. Com- pany was stationed at Mankato to protect the city from the Indians. In December that year the regiment was ordered back to Wisconsin and we marched from Manakato to LaCrosse. Arrived at Madison Dec. 20, when we all got a ten days furlough.
