Obituary.

         "Beloved Woman Passes to Beyond."

Mrs. Mariah J. Terrell, widow of Kenan T. Terrell, St., died at the old family homestead, one and a half miles east of Lawrenceville, yesterday afternoon.

She had been in rather feeble health for some time, but able to be up and look after some few household affairs until a few hours before her decease, when stricken by a violent attack of acute indi- gestion, which she survived but a very short time.

She was the last surviving daughter of William Maltbie, one of the earliest settlers of Lawrenceville, and a prominent and influen- tial citizen of the county up to the time of his death, over half a century ago.

There are many of his descendants living in this county, and are among our best citizens, but there is now left only one among them bearing his surname--Bryant Maltbie, a grandson, who resides in the northern section of the county.

The deceased was born at Lawrenceville, March 23, 1835, and was married to Judge Kenan T. Terrell, October 9, 1860, who died January 12th, 1884.

Nine children were born of the union, five daughters and four sons, to wit:--Sarah Kendrick Moore; Martha Winn Cornett; Kate Malt- bie Terrell, Harriet P. Terrell, and Clara Rowland Terrell, all of whom have departed this life, except the last name.

The four sons are all in life, to wit, Dr. William Terrell; Charles J. Terrell, Henry Terrell, all residing at Atlanta, and Kenan T. Terrell, who with his sister, Clara, resided with their mother until her decease, at the old homestead which has been in possession of the family for a century.

Mrs. Terrell united with the M.E. church South, at Lawrenceville, when a very young girl, and remained a consistent member of it until the end, always contributing freely and liberally to its support, and rarely missing a service unless providentially hindered.

She was a faithful wife and a kind, loving and indulgent mother and was idolized by her children, whose loss is irreparable."
