Death of Mrs. Molby. (Item from Baldwinsville, N.Y. Gazette, 9/30/1897)
Mrs. Clarissa E. Molby was born in the state of New York, Sep- tember 27, 1818, and died in Creston at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday September 8, 1897, at the residence of her son, E. J. Molby on Summer avenue, after an illness of one month. The funeral services were held at the residence of I.J. (sic) Molby Wednesday afternoon, Rev. C. W. Riches, pastor of the Baptist church, officiating. The remains were taken on No. 30 to Kansas to be interred in the Barnes city cemetery, which is situated on the farm of C. D. Molby. The deceased for more than thirty-five years was a devoted Christian, a member of the Baptist church. She was possessed of an exceedingly sunny temperament and endeared herself to the hearts of all who knew her. During her ill- ness she was a most patient sufferer, concerned more for the trouble she feared she was causing others than for her own sufferings. Until the intense heat of the past week began to affect her, her friends believed she was to recover, but on Friday last she began to fail. Her husband proceeded her to the better land thirty-eight years ago. She leaves three sons and two daughters who with their families most deeply mourn the departure of one whom everyone loved. Of her it can be truly said, "Blessed are the dead that die in the Lord." Our loss is heaven's gain. Another light in the windows above. Mrs. Molby will be remembered by many of our readers, as she was long a resident of Van Buren."

"Maltby, Mrs. Clarissa E. (sic) (Memphis P.O.) Lot 19, farmer, 44 acres." Miss L. E. Voorhees of Baldwinsville, writes: "I do not understand why she was reported in the 2nd Election district in 1855 and in the 1st Election District in the 1865 census, unless she moved after the death of her husband."

The Bible is large quarto size, 3/4 leather bound, in good con- dition, well written records in ink only a little faded, but fading. It is prefaced by Roswell D. Hitchcock, Union Theological Seminary, June 15, 1869.
"John Cordell, d. Aug. 11, 1842, aged 84 years. Sally Cordell, was b. in Weston, Connecticut, October 20, 1783. Edmund Holcomb was born in Southwick, Massachusetts, July 28, 1780. Marriage date for Edmund and Sally Holcomb is not given. (Note. New York State Census, 1855, listed them as father and mother, living in the home of John and Clarissa Molby). Rhoda Holcomb was born in Southwick, May 31, 1803. Harriet Holcomb was born in Southwick, March 10, 1805. Sabra A. was born May 11, 1807. Hiram C. Holcomb was born in Southwick, Mass., Sept. 29, 1809. Clarissa E. Holcomb was born in Camillus (New York) Sept. 27, 1818. Alvira D. was born April 22, 1821.
Deaths of some of the Above Persons. Edmund Holcomb died in Van Buren, State of New York, Oct. 2, 1857, aged 77 years.
