Died-Maltby.
At his home in Van Buren, Thursday, Oct. 27, 1904, John
Maltby aged 81 years and three months.  Funeral will be held at
the house Saturday at 10:30 a.m., burial being made in Riverview
cemetery.  Deceased is survived by a wife and one daughter, Miss
Lillie Maltby.  Mr. Maltby was one of the oldest residents of the
town of Van Buren and was well known throughout this section.

Died-Maltby.
At her home in Red Hook, N.Y., Wednesday, June 22, 1921, Mrs.
John Maltby, widow of the late John Maltby, aged 79 years.  Ser-
vices were held at the home on Thursday afternoon, the remains
being brought to Baldwinsville on Friday.  Funeral services were
held at the Baptist church on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock,
Rev. James L. Coote officiating.  Burial was made in Riverview
cemetery.  She was many years a resident in the town of Van Buren
going, nine years ago, to live in Red Hook with her daughter Miss
Lillian Maltby, who is her only survivor."

VI.1063. Lucy Maltby, b. July 30, 1827 (Jacob 5, Jonathan 4, Sam.3, Sam.2, Wm.1). She mar. William Smith, b. about 1827, in Saratoga Co., N.Y. They were married by 1855, as the 1855 Census, New York gives: "Head of family, Jacob Maltby 72" and at the end: "William Smith, son-in-law, Saratoga, residence in Township, 19 months. Lucy Smith, 27, daughter, born in Onondaga, residence in township, 27 years."

"Lucy, wife of William Smith, died June 15, 1864, ae. 36-10-15."
"Sarah M. daughter of W. and L. Smith, d. Jan. 9, 1854, ae.1-9-4."

A member of the family said that Lucy Maltby Smith had three child- ren, all of whom died in infancy. Only the name of Sarah, below, is known. It was also said that she died in childbirth.

Note. The 1850 Census, Van Buren, under the family of Pardon Hart (father of Truman who mar. Susannah, dau. of Chester (5) Mol- by) at the end has:-- "William Smith, 29 M., Farmer, b. New York."
