VI.947. Seth Murray Maltby, b. Jan. 5, 1830 (Seth M.5, Isaac 4, Benj.3, Dan.2, Wm.1). He went out West in 1849 and died unmarried in San Francisco, Feb. 20, 1853.
His photograph was sent the compiler by his sister Mary Love Maltby (Mrs. Albert Tracy Higby). On the back is written: "Seth Murray Maltby, eldest son of Seth Murray Maltby who was eldest son of General Isaac Maltby, whose wife was an only child of General Seth Murray, whose wife was Johannah Dickinson, whose father was General Lemuel Dickinson."
It is an attractive face, high forehead, eyebrows low over the eyes, nose is long and mouth both firm but tender.
VI.949. Henry Martin Maltby, b. June 28, 1833, Greece, Monro Co., N.Y. (Seth M.5, Isaac 4, Benj.3, Dan.2, Wm.1). Mar. Apr. 12, 1871, Frances Elizabeth Judd, b. Bloomfield, Oakland Co., Mich. She was residing in Pontiac, Mich. (one record states: "residing in Water- ford, Oakland Co."). He served in the Civil War, with Brig. Gen. E. Otis. He died Apr. 27, 1886, at Gates, Monroe Co., N.Y.

VI.950. Mary Love Maltby, b. Oct. 29, 1835 (Seth M.5, Isaac 4, Benj.3, Dan.2, Wm.1). Mar. Dec. 20, 1869, William G. Chauncy, at Bates, N.Y. He died Feb. 16, 1877. She mar. (2) Albert Tracy Higby, July 30, 1888. He was in the Civil War.
Soon after her marriage she left Rochester, N.Y., and went to Dallas, Oregon; later Mr. Higby and his sister bought a fruit ranch at Lyle, where they were residing in 1910. Again they moved to Summerfield, Marion Co., Florida. Mr. Higby died in March 1918. Her letters were a delight for many years, containing valuable records, and photographs--one of herself with her twin brothers. I recall in one letter from Dallas, Oregon, she told of a wonderful experience she had; they were driving above a steep bank when the road gave way--one side of the carriage was simply on nothing. She wrote: "The presence of Victoria was so strong, I thought it meant death, but suddenly it was just as though an unseen presence lifted that side of the carriage and we were on firm ground." Victoria was a younger sister who died in 1865 aged 24. Mrs. Higby was an early member of the Maltby Association. She had no children.
VI952. George Beecher Maltby, b. Sept. 21, 1838, Rochester, N.Y. (Seth M.5, Isaac 4, Benj.3, Dan.2, Wm.1). Mar. Nov. 7, 1871, Ida Stevens, eld. dau. of Will F. and Mary Ann (Scott) Stevens, b. Mar. 1, 1846, Aurora, Indiana, where they were married. He d. Apr. 22, 1915, at Aurora, Ind. Member of Maltby Association. Mrs. Maltby's death occurred some years ago. She was a life-long friend to the compiler through her letters and furnished much material for this book. In one letter she wrote: "Regarding Father Maltby's old let- ters. Brother Henry was living in the Homestead and after Father's death, Henry's wife sold the most of them to an 'old paper and rag' pedlar."
