Maltby Genealogy

American Lineage

VI.911. Jane Almira Maltby, b. Oct. 12, 1832 (Lucius 5, Jonathan 4, Benj.3, Dan.2, Wm.1). Mar. Oct. 24, 1854, Henry J. Stevens of New Haven. In 1895, when I called on her at their home in Fair Haven, Mrs. Stevens was out in their delightful, old-fashioned garden. She came in, wearing a long red zibeline cloak which had belonged to her grandmother, Submit Taintor, wife of Rev. Jonathan (4) Maltby. At this time she gave me a piece of her grandmother's wedding gown, the same material was used to tie the pages of Rev. Jonathan (4) Maltby's genealogy of the family.

Mrs. Stevens gave me this manuscript written by Rev. Jonathan (4). (Please see appendix II). She showed me the wedding gown, made with low neck, short puffed sleeves and short waist. It was of a pale cream coloured silk with a fine pale blue stripe. Res. 19 Grand Ave., Fair Haven. She was a member of the Maltby Association.

The house was a typical old-fashioned white house, and the gar- den was filled with all the favorite flowers of "ye olden time." She furnished many records for the genealogy. I think she died about 1912.
