"only used for her own and other's pleasure but also transmitted to her descendants. Besides Mr. Maltby, she is survived by two children, Charles H. Barnard of Lawrenceville, N.Y., and Mrs. J. Monroe Shepard of South Royalton, Vt., together with several grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Three brothers also remain, A. W. Bailey of Denver, Col., Rev. George H. Bailey of Weybridge, Vt., and Henry R. Bailey of Cincinnati, Ohio.

On March 27, Rev. Horace F. Hallett, her pastor, conducted the funeral service at the house, with Scripture readings, prayers and comforting words, including the poem "Sometime" by May Riley Smith. A male quartette sang three hymns "Jesus, Saviour, pilot me"; "On the resurrection morning, and "Goodnight, beloved." The four deacons of the church, of which Mr. Maltby is now honorary deacon, served as bearers, and under a sky both sunny and tearful the friends drove to the puiet resting place to say the final word "until the day break and the shadows flee away."

VI.906. Ellsworth Board Maltby, b. 1842 (Oliver E.5, Jonathan 4, Benj.3, Dan.2, Wm.1). He married but had no children. His wife was a very beautiful Southern lady and died many years ago.

VI.907. Mary Amoret Maltby, b. 1848 (Oliver E.5, Jonathan 4, Benj.3, Dan.2, Wn.1). Mar. in 1871, J. Howard Warner, and resided in New York City, until her death.

VI.909. Oliver Ellsworth Maltby, b. Aug. 6, 1827 (Lucius 5, Jonathan 4, Benj.3, Dan.2, Wm.1). Mar. Feb. 18, 1852, Ellen Maria Farren of New Haven, Ct., dau. of John Sherman and Polly (Pardee) Farren. Was a member of "Maltby Association." He d. Nov. 5, 1907 and Mrs. Maltby died Dec. 8, 1918, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Shipp, at Hewburgh, N.Y. (Records by him).

VI.910. George Erastus Maltby, b. Feb. 18, 1830 (Lucius 5, Jonathan 4, Benj.3, Dan.2, Wm.1). Mar. May 5, 1852, Elizabeth B. Maguire, b. May 2, 1832, d. Apr. 18, 1864, Norfolk, Va. He mar. (2) Aug. 16, 1871, Ruth Atwater Bostwick, b. Dec. 11, 1849; d. May 28, 1898. He was our first president of the Maltby Family Association and remained president until his death, July 31, 1909, aged 78. A very good picture of him was published in our Booklet No. 2.

Mr. Maltby was born in Fair Haven, Conn., and, as a boy, lived at home, going to school and assisting his father with the farm. Later he became clerk in Dr. Parker's drug store, then being eighteen years of age.
