IV.130. Abigail Squire, b. Feb. 26, 1755, at Fairfield (Abigail 3, Jonathan 2, Wm. 1, mar. July 11, 1775 Isaac Jarvis. He b. Jan. 20, 1756, on "Groves Hill, " where the redcoats burned Fairfield. He died June 20, 1788. He was a step-son of Lydia, 2nd wife, and widow of Isaac Jarvis, Senr., of Norwich, Conn.

John H. Beach, whose grandmother was 1st cousin of Abigail (Squire) Jarvis, wrote: "I think Isaac was Lieut. Isaac Jarvis, who was with the men on "Grovers Hill" when the redcoats burned Fairfield."

In another letter, Mr. Beach wrote: "Mother, " (Ruth Bulkley), "Talked of ---- Squire, a sea-faring man, who was in the East India trade and brought home to his friends silks from there and fancy hand- wrought work. I recall a very elegant fan, which was a present to my mother."

IV.133. Sarah Maltbie, b. May 1, 1750 (David 3, Jonathan 2, Wm. 1). Mar. Nov. 11, 1766, Stephen Newman, at Stamford, Conn. They were married "by her honored Father." He was b. Jan. 10, 1788, son of Thomas and Harriet (Jagger) Newman. She d. Sept. 12, 1826, and he d. Dec. 7, 1799. (Ref. "Tuttle Fam. Gen.," p. 339-340).

IV.136. Abigail Maltbie, b. July 21, 1756 (David 3, Jonathan 2, Wm.1). Mar. June 6, 1782, Samuel Webb, son of David and Ruth (Waterbury) Webb. He was of Yale, class of 1779 and b. Oct. 10, 1754. He died in 1826. (Reb. Tuttle Fam. Gen., p. 339).

Dr. F. Webb, Ashtabula, Ohio, gives the Webb ancestry as: 1. Richard Webb. 2. Jonathan Webb and wife Judith. 3. Jonathan Webb, b. 1712. 4. David, b. 1736. "He kept the old Webb Tavern at Stam- ford."

"Chapter Sketches, D.A.R." p. 444, has a picture "Webb's Tavern, long known as the Washington house--it sheltered many famous men in its day. Torn down in 1868."
