14  June 1703  BRANFORD REC. Vol I, p 224:  Daniel MALTBIE entered his ear mark, which is a crop on the top of both ears,  and  a
      hollow crop on the near ear"
    1710  Daniel MALTBIE rec'd from his father's will, "all that house and land where he now lives."
      Oct.  1710  NEW HAVEN PROBATE REC.  Vol. III, p. 235:  Daniel MALTBIE is appointed guardian to Jonathon MALTBIE, minor, son  of
      Wm. MALTBIE of Branford, deceased.
    NEW  HAVEN REC., p. 66, "Jonathon MAULTBIE, Minor, child of Mr. William MAULTBIE, Late of Branford did appear and made choice  of
      Mr. Edward BARKER of Branford for to be his guardian."
    BRANFORD REC.  List of Freemen in Branford, Daniel MALTBIE is 18th on list.
      His plain and tasteful tombstone reads:
          "Mr. DANIEL MALTBIE
            Died Dec. 25, 1731
               In 53d year."
      His  grave was near his father, William, near the fence.  Apparently the stone has been misplaced as it appears that  land  was
      needed to widen the street.
    22  Dec. 1731  GUILFORD PROBATE RECORDS, Vol. II, p. 436:  Daniel MALTBIE'S will.  He calls himself "Yeoman".  His wife,  Esther,
      and son, Joseph, were named as Executors.
      The  will provides liberally for wife Esther, sons Joseph, Daniel and Benjamin, and to each of his daughters,  Esther,  Abigail
      and Martha.
      It is believed that Mary, William, John and the first Daniel were dead before their father's death.

    * John MOSS was son of John(1) MOSS of New Haven.  John(1), b. Eng. 1604, is listed in the New Haven Planters Assoc., 4 June 1639
      Member of 1st Gen. Court: 1639 - 1648 - 1649 - 1664.  Made a Corp. 6 Aug. 1642 and a Commissioner, May 1678.
      He was one of the first settlers of Wallingford.  Died in 1707, aged 103.

    ** Mary LOTHROP was dau. of Samuel LOTHROP, New London, Conn. and Elizabeth Scudder.  They mar. 28 Nov. 1644.
      Samuel,  b.  at Elton, East Riding of Yorkshire, Eng. in 1584, was 6th child of Rev. John LOTHROP & Hannah HOWSE  of  Eastwell,
      Kent Co.  They were mar. 10 Oct 1610.
      Rev. John was born at Elton, East Riding, Yorks, 20 Dec. 1584; was bred at Oxford; graduated at Queen's College, 1605.
      Hannah died in 1633.
      Rev. John was the 12th child of Thomas LOTHROP, first of Cherry Burton, later of Elton, Yorks.  His wife was Mary --, who  died
      at Elton in 1588.

    YORKSHIRE SUBSIDY ROLL:is name appeared in 1548.
      Thomas, who lived in the early 16th century at Cherry Burton, was son of Robert LOWTHROP and Ellen --.  Robert died in 1558.
      Robert  was  son of John LOWTHROPE of Lowthrope.  John was living early in the 16th century, in Cherry Burton, a  parish  about
      four miles from Lowthrop, where he had an extensive estate.  In 1548, he appeared on Yorkshire Subsidy Roll.
      14  June  1739  (CONNECTICUT MARRIAGES, BRANFORD & TUTTLE FAMILY GEN. p. 325)  "Mrs. Esther MALTBY of Branford and  Mr.  Samuel
      TODD are married.  He was a Deacon.
