(Dorothy VERRILL wrote that as a child, she remembers an old stone with a longer name than Mary, possibly Rachael and the date 1679. The stone was later removed so that a road could be established) She also wrote that there are no Records on William in Branford from 1682 to 1685. Did he go to England during that period? These articles are taken from the Sheldon Record: Mary, bapt. 20 Mar. 1636, dau. of Richard BROUGH & wife, Jane of Sheldon, married William MALTBY, 1682. Also, another account has Jane BROUGH, dau. of George BROUGH, married at Sheldon, 1682, William MALTBY of Groton, Notts. Do these accounts have anything to do with William, our ancestor??
